Lead us not into temptation...Why would God lead man into temptation? Don't Christians believe that this is Satan's domain, that Satan alone is responsible for the evil in the world? But it's a Jewish idea that God created absolutely everything--good and bad, angels and devils. It is Satan's job, acting on God's behalf, to test people so they can make their own choices. Otherwise, there would be no free will. Judaism says that when the human being withstands temptation Satan dances with joy; but when a human being falls prey to temptation and does an evil act, Satan weeps because he has done his job too well.

I guess what it all boils down to is we each seek in our own ways that are meaningful to us. It makes for a complex world, but I'm not sure we'd be better off without that complexity, yet the complexity makes us feel more separateness. But we each can overcome that within. How permanent that experience is I cannot say though. We just may be in a movie without an ending. There is nothing to figure out, only things to be figured.
